"Prayers of the Innocent" By Lea Dyer Snow
I see images of beauty
that surround a child at prayer
and know that God is listening
as He touches their fine hair.
With love and deep compassion
He hears their whispered wishes
and then bestows upon their brow
a hundred angel kisses.
As children pray they aren't aware
of life's most hurtful aches,
they only know that He is near
and prayer is all it takes...
To keep their parents safe from harm, and them snug within their beds,
while fairies dance, and flowers grow, and rainbows fill their heads.
He touches them with pure delight and bids them sweetened dreams
because He knows within their lives, life is never what it seems.
He wishes them such gentleness to take root within their soul'
and hopes with love and kindness, with Him they will grow old.
They won't forget that He was there when afraid they would try to
and that all it took was one small prayer, and He was by their side.
--Lea Dyer Snow
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked
them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to
me , and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the
truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
"The Sentinel" By Lea Dyer Snow
In the treetops stands a Sentinel, watching o'er His children's play.
Taking care to guide our footsteps, on the true and righteous way.
He wants no harm to come to us, for babes in arms are we.
Not knowing yet the plans He's made, nor the future we can't foresee.
Yet in all His truth and wisdom, and with fore site He knows all.
He took His time and bade us well, and beckoned us to call...
We'll learn in time to call on Him, as in our spirits we feed;
On gifts of love and perfect peace, then to Him our paths will lead.
He'll watch us grow and touch our brow, with worries here and there.
But never will He desert us, nor give us too much to bear.
Then one fine day He'll find that we, are children never more.
We've lived our lives as He had want, then we'll meet Him at His door.
The Sentinel will then look down at other babes at play,
Then start again the glorious plan to lead them on their way...
