Kum ba yah, meaning "Come By Here", apparently originated with the Gullah, an African-American
people living on the Sea Islands and adjacent coastal regions of South Carolina and Georgia. It is a
standard campfire song in Scouting, YMCA, the Indian Guides, and many others. I always enjoyed
singing Kumbaya around the evening campfires with our youth groups at church. Listen to Kum Ba Yah
